Room 6 trip to glass studio

Diary entry

Today Is August the 3rd we went to Ucol and we watched them make glass Things. Mr David Traub put glass on a steel pole and he blew the glass into a bubble.

At first it looked like a bubble but then he kept shaping it to make it look like a jug. He put the point on for the spout then got his mate Brendan to help, he grabbed another steel pole and got the jug to that pole then put a glass handle on so that you can hold it.

Then we went to the Recycling centre and looked at the glass. There are different types of glass there are brown, green and clear. Then we looked at the big bins and the glass smelt like beer! Then we saw people throwing bottles into the bins and it went CRASH!!!!! BANG!!! Then we found- out that all the glass in New Zealand goes to Auckland to be made into more glass bottles and they make 24 bottles a day, Amazing !

Diary Entry

Diary Entry Today is August the 3rd Today we went to the glass factory to see how glass is made. We discovered that glass is made out of sand that is heated. The man that was teaching us about glass was very good at making things out of glass. The Mans name was Mr. David Traube. His father was there too. We got learnt lots of things at the glass factory. The glass factory was at UCol. After we had finished at the glass factory at UCol we went to the Recycling Centre in London Street. At the Recycling Centre we learnt more about glass. We even got to see where the used glass bottles go. There was a lady there that told us more about the glass. Then we went back to the bus and went back to school. Bye, Bye, see you later.

Glass Studio

Diary Entry

Today is August the 3rd

Today was REALLY exiting. First we went to a glass factory. We saw hot furnaces to make glass. First a man called David stretched some hot glass. The hot glass snapped, by now it was cooling down. Some of the thin glass fell in Amber's hair and on me. He then blew a glass bubble. The bubble of glass could bend. That glass broke easily. The man then made a jug from glass. He made layers of glass to make the jug. He shaped it and made a handle for the jug.

We then went to a re-cycling center. We only stayed for six minutes. Some of the re-cycling center smelt of wine. We then went back to school.

A Diary Entry

Today is August the 3th

Today is very very cold! We went to a glass studio and a re-cycle center. It was very cold at the re-cycling center, but it was warmer at the glass studio because of the furnace.

The teacher told us to take notes about what Mr David said (Mr David was the man that spoke).

The man made a glass jar. Some of us thought he was making a light bulb. He said that the teacher could come back the next morning and take the glass jar back to our class room.

Then we went to a re-cycling center. As I told you, it was pretty cold there. So we got off the bus. We looked and took notes. The teacher showed us some tunnels that led to a big tin. The people that work at the re-cycling center, have to divide the colours of the glass. And then we went back to school.

So that was the day that was the day that we went on a very cold day morning to the glass studio.
