Sailing

On the 15 December room 5 went sailing at Pauri Lake. When we got to the lake I asked "Can I open the gate?" The bus driver said "Yes". So I opened it wide so the bus could fit through. When we got down to the lake the Form twos went sailing while the man explained the boat and how to sail.

While we were waiting for the Form Twos to come in. I played on the raft with Jessica and Sarah .We had a rope tied to the raft so we go too far away. The raft was going from side to side I thought I might get tipped of.Mrs Jonker came and tipped us all off I was off last. The water was cold!

Then Ellenor came in so I went in the pink boat Number 1 .when I was out on the lake sailing it was fun! There was only a little bit of wind so I didn't go that fast. I was out there for awhile. I tried to go in but there was no wind. I kept going in circles. I nearly fell out. I decided to swap with Rhys, he was in the life boat.

I stayed in the life boat until the end, it was fun. I could watch Sarah and Jessica sail. Joseph was having trouble getting in so we were about to tow him in when Rhys capsized with the boat. The man told Rhys how to flip it over .Then we went back and helped Matthew I held the tow rope to tow him in .We towed other people as well.

I had a spectacular time sailing. We helped put all the gear away and got on the bus. Sarah, Jessica and I sat in the back.

The Puppet Show

Mel and Zane first showed us a puppet show. They used two puppets. One of the puppets had velcro so you could pull the eyes on and off and put them all over the place. After that they let us have a turn with the puppets and use the same script as them. We had fun.

Molly’s journal

"Hi, I'm Molly her is a story about my life .I am 10 years old .I have 2 horses one dog and a kitten .I have 3 brothers Mark, Josh and John and 2 sisters Melissa and Jemma. We live on a beautiful farm .

One day our family went to the beach it was a hot summer's day in Australia. I got to the beach and put on my bathing suit on and then I saw something amazing lying on the shore was a baby dolphin. I went over a saw that it was alive so I grabbed a bucket .I tried to keep it cool .I talked to it all about my life .Then I pushed it out and set it free. I jumped in the water and had a swim .When it was time to leave the dolphin came and said goodbye.

Now at home I had a horse name nugget she was 14.5 hands tall. She and I were best mates. That night I had a dream that nugget was stolen it was horrible. Then suddenly I woke up to the smell of smoke and the fire alarm that was going off. I grabbed a jumper and ran out fast. When I was standing next to the letter box everyone was there but smudge my cat. I was really worried about her. Then I heard a meow coming out of the barn, good I thought she is safe. Soon the fire brigade came by that time the house was nearly at the ground .I felt really sad .I lost all my clothes, toys and my jewellery.

That night we stayed in a caravan at our house .That morning I went for a ride on nugget to the shore .The dolphin came and saw me I told him that our house burnt down .He seem to understand what I was staying ,we played in the water and had heaps of fun.

2 weeks later we started to rebuild our house a builder came a we decided to build a bigger house .By the way our house fire was caused by a electricity falt.We had been given heaps clothes and new clothes we had brought. The dolphin came each day and saw me I never told anyone about my special dolphin he had grown up heaps. My horse nugget was there for me we played together and jumped poles .We were living in caravans 3 of them. The 3 boys were in one. The 2 girls and I in one .My parents have one and fridge and cooking stuff in there. .

A few years later we were back in our house we all had our own rooms. I am now 12 and my horse nugget has had a foal which I named Pepper. She is a Palomino. The dolphin my friend is really beautiful. She is 4 years old now she still comes and vists me at the beach. So that was my life." .

Long distance swimming

On Thursday the 15th of December 2005 approximately 40 students and helpers went to Splash Center for Faith Academy's annual long distance swim. Faith Academy hired three lanes for slow swimmers, average swimmers and fast swimmers.

The children started at 11 o'clock and finished at 1 o'clock, only 2 people lasted towards the end Braedon McGrail (200 lengths) and Juan Carlos Penn (150 lengths).

Over all we had a really good time, we would like to thank all the helpers.

Sailing

On Wednesday the 15th of December 2006, we hopped on the bus and we were off to Pauri Lake to do sailing. The weather was great but maybe a little too great. There was no wind at all, well maybe a little.

When we were there we reviewed what we had to do and the sailing guys explained the part of the boat like the rudder and the centre board plus the boom. The boats we use are small plastic boats and at the most can hold two people in them.

Then we were allowed to go. I went in a blue boat I was the second person to go out. I came back in third but that doesn't matter at all.

Then we had to wait for a boat because there are not enough boats for everyone. Since we had no boat we decided to jump off the plank into the water it was lots of fun. We just did it over and over again until we got our next turn.

After waiting I got my next turn. I hopped on the boat and started sailing. I did the circuit and came back. Once I got back, Caleb and Braedon went out together in the same boat, they were out there for ages they got stuck so the safety boat that the sailing guys drive help them and towed them back. They were much safer on shore than out on the lake. I also saw Rhys capsize, it was funny he also got some help from the safety boat.

Well I think that everyone enjoyed sailing at Pauri Lake. I want to do it again. We all hopped on the bus and went back to school.

Buddies Shared Lunch

On the 15th of December 2005. Faith Academy's room 5's oldest, children got together with their buddies for a shared lunch. It started at 12:30pm and went to about 12:50pm. It gave the buddies a chance to catch up with each other and spend some time together. We all took some food to share. There was a good variety of food, for example: strawberries, grapes, biscuits, savories, lollies and lots more. It was a lot of fun!

Manual

Manual is a very cool thing. On Friday the Form 1s and 2s go to it every second week and it is at Gonville school. When we are there we go into two groups Form 1s and Form 2s . There is two class rooms we take turns in. there is a cooking and sewing class and the other class is wood work. In term one and in term four we do cooking and in term two and three we do sewing in the first class.

At lunch time we have half an hour and there is a canteen where you can buy food. There is also two play grounds there and field to play on. After lunch break we line up out side the class rooms and there is a cloak bay to put your bags in.

The activities we do are making biscuits, buns, pikelets etc with cooking and sewing we make bags and pants, puppets and the list goes on. But with wood work we make magic blocks, spinning tops, pencil cases and more.

We went to manual on a bus and on the way back to school too. It finishes at 2:30 and starts at 10:30 and as soon as we get there we have morning tea and then at 12:00 we have lunch time. When you work there you do it on tables. In wood work you have two on a table and the other class you have 4 at a table. When you do cooking you have a color per table an the same with sewing or wood work.

In each class there are about 15 people and that's the same amount of sewing machines because every student uses the same sewing machine every week. That's the same as the tables. Jessica and I love manual.

Manual

Every second Friday the Form One's and Two's go to Gonville School and while we are there we do a thing called Manual. We do would work and sewing or cooking. The Form One's and Two's get split up so for example the Form One's go to sewing and the Form Two's go to wood work. Then we have lunch at the same time and then and them we go to the one that we haven't been to yet. Sometimes the Form One's go to wood work first.

For sewing we make things like bags, skirts sock puppets swimming bags and other things. We have just finished our swimming bags. We could do all different kinds of patterns. I did a checkers board with light green and purple. We make the bag on our own but our teacher just tells us what to do. We also do wood work in the winter and summer months. In the summer months we don't do sewing but we do cooking. Every lesson in cooking we make something like scones spaghetti buns and lots of other things like that.

And then after sewing or cooking we have lunch. We are allowed to bring money and get stuff from the canteen. You can get hot things like pies or sausage rolls and other things. You can get drinks like water, juices and milk drinks. You can get cold things like biscuits chips and other things like that. After we have eaten our lunch, we can go and play on the playgrounds or on the rugby fields.

After lunch we go to wood work were we make things like spinning tops magic blocks and more. At the moment the Form One's are making pencil cases, like the people had in the olden days.

We go to and from Manual on a bus. We leave to go to Manual at about 10:30 and we come back to school at about 2:30.

Sarah and I really enjoy going to Manual and we wish that we could go to Manual every week instead of going every second week!

ROOM 5'S AMAZING POSTERS

On the twenty fourth of June on Friday of week 8 in term 2 at room five we started to draw a plan for a poster too show our relationship between us and God.

In the pictures people had lots of ideas but most people used the bible and how God loves us. Each picture has a Bible verse and each Bible verse is different.

Some people done theirs on greed, love, forgiveness and even Heaven and hell but each picture is different, each picture is unique and each picture was done with our own two hands.

These posters are going to be finished on the nineteenth of august 2005 or the second of September 2005.

This is a photo of Mrs. Allot speaking to Room 6 about how to spin wool. Mrs. Allot talked about wool to jumpers and things like that. They were getting information for their action learning presentations.

There once was a boy called Mike,
Who rode round on a big blue bike.
He rode out to Jupiter,
There was nothing stupider
He had far less air than I'd like

There once was a boy called bill,
Who rode up a very large hill.
The bike went on strike,
Said "you I don't like"
And sped off away down the hill

Sailing

On the 16 March 2005 we had our first sailing lesson. Before we went I was exited because I had never been sailing before , but at the same time I was really scared.

When we got there the people in charge told us what to do, it was really confusing.

Before I got a turn I had to wait. Andrea Sarah H. and I found a raft we were playing on it and then Mrs. Jonker came and tipped us off, It was really fun.

Then we were called because there was a boat ready for us, it was hard because there was hardly any wind to get us going. Then once the wind had picked up it was easier to speed up, but sometimes you didn't have enough time because you had to let the sail out. I kept on getting stuck because there was no wind to keep you going. A lot of the time you thought you were moving but you were not moving it was just the water. Then when I got back I waited for Sarah and then we went and plated on the raft again, for a while. Then we had to go and pack up. You had to fold the sail and roll the sail and put it into the bag. Then we had to take the tiller off, and take the center board out.

We got back to school at three o'clock. Then on the next Monday I got a certificate for doing well in sailing.

I really enjoyed myself!!!!!!!
