Parents join in and support us while learning about make-up, costumes and backdrops. It's great to have so many people involved.

Musical 2007

Musical 2007 Every second year Faith Academy presents a musical. It's a fun filled event involving everyone at school including many mums, dads and extended family members. Students are able to develop their talents in drama, singing and dance whilst covering many of the curriculum objectives. This year our Musical is "Starstruck" following the story of the Prodigal Son! Students auditioned for parts for acting or dancing. Students in year 7-8 were favoured for main parts as it does require a high level of commitment and they will not have this opportunity again. The younger students participate in groups. We look forward to great performances.

Faith Academy Musical 2007 Star Struck

The actors have done a very good job and are not making many mistakes. They have worked really hard and you can really tell that they have practiced over an over again they have gotten a few criticism but have worked hard to fix them there most common problem is the sound how loud they speak and the speed but besides that the actors have done a really good job!

Dancers: dancers have also done a good job they were taught by Mrs Davey she is an old teacher at this school she did a very good job at teaching the dancers there was only one thing noticeable that was wrong that was the fact that they were not smiling but as well as the actors they did a very good job.

Backstage: Some people think that backstage is not so important but as a matter of fact its one of the most important things in the musical the back stage for this years musical have had a few mistakes but besides that they have done a pretty good job. Besides a few mistakes this is one awesome musical!

Starstruck!

For the last 9 weeks Faith Academy School have been hard at work put together a musical called star struck. It's based on a parable that Jesus told, 'the prodigal son'. First Mrs Jonker, the teacher in the senior class, wrote the script and the school did quite a few singing practices. Our star of the show is Kerry-Anne. She is acting Kerry in the musical.

In about week 3 or 4, we had our first practise. We just did a run through to see what it was like. After that we did more and more practices. Then in week 5 or 6 we started painting backdrops and the wings. For about 5 weeks, every Saturday some students, their parents and Mrs. Jonker came and painted them.

A while later Mrs McLeay, Mrs Kyle, Mrs Lewis and some Mums started making costumes and boy did they work had at it. They made heaps of farm animal costumes, all the dancers costumes and all of Room 3 vests. Not to mention all of the penguin costumes. But most people had to get their own costumes, although, that's still not very easy to get everyone to bring their costumes in time.

Then there's the technical thing like the lighting and the sound. They had to set it all up and get the timing right. Mrs McDonnell, our stars mum, came to every single practice for that.

And now after heaps of practice and preparation we have finished and are now performing our Star Struck musical.

Starstruck 2007

This year's musical has been really fun, mostly because we get to miss heaps of school! But not just because of that, instead of P.E you get to dance with Mrs Davey our dance teacher. She's really cool.
I'm a main actor, I do a lot of singing and I'm a main dancer. Who am I? The prodigal daughter, "Kerry". It's really fun being the main actor. I have a lot of responsibility. I have to catch up on my work that I miss because I'm usually dancing, acting or singing.
This year's musical is called "Star Struck". It's based on the story of the "Prodigal Son" a parable in the Bible about a boy who wants to be free from working. So he gets his inheritance from his father and leaves, then spends all of it and goes home to his dad broke. His dad forgives him and gives him more lots of love. That is just the short version. You can read it for yourself in Luke chapter 15 verse 11, the Parable of the lost son. Got to go I've got to share the message that God forgives anyone no matter what they've done!

Kerry-Ann

Review-Jonah and the Whale

Jonah got a call from an Angel to go to the City called Wangavegas. He doesn't want to go so he runs away with his family. He goes on the titanic and it starts to rock back and forward. Then he explained that he is the course of the storm. Then he gets thrown into the sea and gets swallowed by a big fish. He asks the king if he can have another chance and the king said yes and so he went to the City and told them the message.

Review of 2nd chances

Wow came and see 2nd chances it's amazing. The performance was done by Faith Academy School and was Performed at Faith Community church.

First god told Jonah to go to wanga vagaus to tell the people about god! Because they were doing wrong. But Jonah did not want to because he was scared so he went on a boat to new York.

but heres the catch there was a storm and the only way to stop the storm was to throw Jonah over board. But when Jonah was thrown over board he went into a whale and everyone thought that there was no way out. But there was fish that could talk and they told Jonah that you can't run from the king. Jonah asked god for a 2nd chance that's why its called 2nd chances any way god gave it to him and then a amazing thing happened the whale spouted Jonah out of the whale and on to land. which was wanga vagaus and then Jonah told them about god and they belived it now they are celebrating.

They have really cool costumes and the fish costumes are cool and they have really cool songs and for the celebrate dance they had these really cool flick and spin skirts.

I wish I was in it I would have had lots of fun and I bet they would of too.

Second chances

Another phenomenal performance from Faith Academy, performed by Faith Academy's most talented actors and dancers. Based on the true story from the bible. ‘Jonah and the Whale'. It all starts with Jonah and his family having a lovely summer holiday at the mount. When Jonah gets an unexpected phone call from a Jamaican angel informing him that Wanga Vegas was in a very bad state and needed to tell them to clean up their act. Jonah then got scared and lied to his family and said that they were going on a trip on the Titanic. It was all lovely until the captain got a call from the Jamaican angle he told the captain that he was to throw Jonah over board for the storm to stop. Jonah then sings a delightful song called the "The storm". Jonah was now getting thrown over board when he was thrown over he and his wife got swallowed by a gargantuan fish there is then a tremendous dance from some of the students called "In the belly of the whale" then comes the scene inside of the whale were all the fishes and octopuses from the cartoon "Finding Nemo" they tell Jonah about how powerful god is and that you have to obey him and you can't run away from him because he watches you 24/7 then Jonah gets a phone call from god and grants him a second chance then him and his wife and friends got chucked out the belly of the whale onto Castlecliff beach Jonah then preached to the town of Wanga-Vegas they then decide to change their ways but Jonah feels dejected and sorry for himself and believing that they should have got the punishment they deserve. His wife then talks to him about a passage from the bible 1 Timothy 1 v15 and suddenly feels a lot better. It all rounds up with a finale off all the children and actors with a song called "Never give up" where all the children sing on stage with enthusiasm.

2nd chances

Faith Academy did a performance called 2nd chances it was great. It was a changed version of Jonah and the whale. He had a wife and two kids and also a prawn who is Jonah's conscience. For a 90 minute production it has a lot of humour and fun. Jonah gets called by the King and asked to preach the word to Wanga-vagus. At first he runs away but then he decided to do what was right Well done Faith Academy.

Second chances Review

Faith Academy school preformed a wonderful musical called second chances based on the story of Jonah and the whale. Students from year 0-8 preformed. They put on 6 performances all together.

They had wonderful dancers with some had glowing costumes the costumes were very cool especially the fish. The script was written by one of the staff. The musical included a prawn from sun smart New Zealand.

The school has a marvelous student dancer named Marianne whiched made up 2 dances and is very talented. The students auditioned and mostly got a part. They had the whole school singing and it sounded really good.

The staff has been working really hard preparing for the performances. The main characters were Jonah as Ben, Jonah's wife as Sarah Jonah's son as Daniel, Shrimp as Joseph and Jonah's daughter as Marianne. Parents also helped out with things. Faith Academy students you did well.

Review: 2nd Chances

Faith Academy has a production every 2nd year. This year it is about Jonah and the Whale. Jonah is at the beach with his family Sarah his wife Mary his daughter and Daniel his son, he gets a call from an angel, the angel tells him that he needs to go to Wangavagus and tell them that if they do not change their ways they will be destroyed. Jonah was shocked and Sarah asked him what was wrong so he told her that it was his travel agent and he had won a free trip on the Titanic.

They got on the Titanic and sailed out to sea. While at sea a storm came so they chucked Jonah over board then Sarah jumped in after him a whale came and swallowed them whole.

While they were in the whale he got a call from the king (God), and Jonah asked for a second chance. The king gives him a second chance and Jonah goes to Wangavagus (Wanganui) to tell them to change their ways. The people of Wangavagus change their ways but Jonah but Jonah wasn't happy that the king didn't destroy the city. Jonah gets over his depression and forgives the people and lives a happy life. They summed it all up with a song called never give up. It was a great production. I hope the next one will be even better.

Review on 2nd Chance

Faith Academy primary and intermediate had a marvelous musical as all of them had a part in it. We all worked with enthusiasm and were spreading a message across Wanganui, showing people that even if you do bad things God still will help you. We all worked as a team and they all were committed and we achieved heaps in this musical. We had lots of help from friends and family and back stage who took on and off equipment and were taught by Peter Davis who showed them all the ropes. Can't wait for the next musical in 2 years time.

A REVIEW: 2nd Chances

Faith Academy's award winning musical which I have now seen and had its first performance on Thursday is a wonderful musical and I would recommend it to any one that hasn't seen it. It is about an hour long and has some wonderful characters including Nemo and Marlin from "Finding Nemo." The story is about Jonah, his family and Tiger Prawn as they battle to deliver Gods message to Wanga Vegas. The musical is based on a real story and the script was written by a teacher at the school. I would give it a 6 out of 10 good work Faith Academy.

Second chances musical review

Second chances, performed by faith academy's 150 students is based on the story of Jonah.
Jonah runs away from God, (who is telling him to preach his message to the people of whanga-vegus (the worst city in the world)) on the titanic from mount mounganui beach where he met his conscience, the one and only sun smart mascot, Tiger prawn. When he is thrown overboard and swallowed by a whale he meets Nemo, Marlin, Dory and co. inside the belly where he receives a mystery phone call from God telling him to get ready. Ready?! For what?! When he is belched onto castlecliff beach he finally preaches to the people of whanga-vegus to end the play.
The songs interspersed through the musical are mostly by rockfish and some dances were choreographed by students.
Our reporter interviewed Joseph who played Tiger prawn. He said that this musical was a lot of fun to put together and he can't wait for their next performance
The message of the play was never give up and god loves everyone enough to give them a second chance. This was summed up in the finale.
Your production was great of celebrate and never give up. Great job faith academy

The show to see

This year Faith Academy is doing a musical 'called 2nd Chance'. The story is based on Jonah and the whale. The characters are really shining in the spot light.

The school says they were so close in not doing the musical. The Kids have really enjoyed doing the musical.

The people in the booth have really had there work cut out for them there are so many visual effects the sound is so great as well.
This musical will be the one to see.

Below is the finale of the Musical " The Happy Palace Rat" 2001

In 2003 we staged the first musical that was entirely locally produced as it was written by an ex-staff member with lots of help from the current staff. "A Rip Roaring Tale" was a rip roaring success, teaching students some valuable lessons about dealing with conflict.
