2006 Room 4 Camp
Vertical Horizons Inglewood
At camp there was a huge (and I mean huge) cafateria. There were heaps of people to fill it up as well. Shelley the cook made the most delicious food ever! And guess where the seats came from. Of all places McDonalds! They made lots of noise when we moved them so did the tables. All the kids at camp had their fair share of work by setting, clearing and washing the dishes. Itwas really fun though. By Michal
Tipi Island
At the back of the buildings there are two tipis on an island. It is quite dark inside and you can fit two thirds of the camp in one of them. They have bits of bamboo sticking out of them. People go over the bridge two at a time so it doesn't break. In the middle of the island there is a place where you can have a camp fire. I really like the tipis.By Daniel
Line Dancing.
When my class went to camp we learnt to do line dancing. We learnt lots of funky moves. The supervisors were friendly and really talented. If I had a chance to go back and learn more things I'd be there right now. If the supervisors from Vertical Horizon are reading this, YOU GUYS ROCK!!!From Jacob (affro man).
We were playing a game called "Skunk in the Mud"it was hard at the start but it got easier. We had lots of fun playing the game. Some of the planks were heavy so I got someone to help me. In the end we all got there. We had lots of fun.

When my class went to camp we didn't have to cook.I liked the pizza we had.
The breakfast was yum too. We had rice bubbles corn flakes porridge and weet bix.
I hope we come back again.

2006 Room 5 Camp
Mangtepopo camp 2006
"Ooyyyou" It's Friday night and what a week Mangatepopo camp 2006On Monday morning everyone was crowding the bus, we just couldn't wait at 9:00 we all scrambled on and I got the back seat along with Caleb, Mark and Matthew, Dad was a few seats in front and acting like it was some sort of quiz show. We played a lot of car cricket on the way, Caleb won.
We also looked over the camp timetable, it didn't tell us much: surprise @ Turangi, supper and surprise.
Before we got there we thought it would be like Te wera, NOT LIKELY!!! The camp was all in one block boys on one side girls on the other, kitchen in the middle. The cabins had 1 window 1 heater and 2 sets of bunks, not a lot of floor space. The dining room had 4 long tables and was divided from the kitchen with a long bench.
On Tuesday we took a tour of the Tongariro National Trout Centre to learn about trout. We saw trout, caught trout, cooked trout, ate trout, learned trout and dissected trout. At the end we saw some really big trout. After that we went rock climbing, I got to the top of one wall but mostly stuck to the big inflatable mat. At the Tokaanu thermal pools we played water bulrush. I did not get in the middle.
The next day the Taranaki Falls tramp was postponed due to bad weather so we had a tour of the chateau instead.
Thursday was our day for walks, in the morning we did the 2 hour Taranaki Falls which I quite enjoyed and Tawhai falls where we climbed on rocks and skipped stones in a little stream, we also did the camp walk before tea.
Friday was our day to pack up and go home but before we did we played soccer with a giant earthball. My team got steamrolled on points but we had more fun racing around and crashing into the ball.
On the way home we played last card, one game lasted us the whole paraparas! When we got home we had to wait for the luggage because it came separately. But now I had better go to sleep, softball tomorrow!

At the end of camp, travelling to get back to school, I was too tired to remember what happed, so I wrote it down. On our way to camp we stopped at the army museum in Waiouru and had a look around, there was a water fall made out of 30 blocks or more green stone and we got to hold one to.
Then we had a look at all the guns, badges and dummies made like people. Then we met a lady who showed us around and let us dress up in cool army uniforms, we had a photo to.
Then we were travelling again....after about an hour we arrived at camp, unpacked the bus and found our cabins. Then we made our beds and then played volley ball we won of course Then we had dinner and went to bed, we talked and talked and laughed and after a while we fell asleep.
Tuesday. .
. Today we got up early had breakfast then went to the trout centre. A lady showed us around and I learnt allot about the different stages from birth, after that we went rock climbing I did 5 but some didn't make it to the top. Then we went to the thermal hot pools then we went back to camp, had tea and went to bed.
Wednesday...
Today we went to the visitor centre by the mountain, and we watched two videos about volcanoes and looked at the stuffed animals before we left to go tramping the first tramp was half an hour and it led to a great view. Then we went back to camp.... it was a long day and I asked if my friends would come play some volley ball........ Again, it was fun.
Thursday...
Today we are tramping again one was two hours and the next was half an hour and they both had a special water fall at the end. At the end of the day every cabin had to do a skit .e.g. plays, dancing .etc. Then we had a look at all the photos that we took this week, some of them were very funny, and we even were allowed to make our own sundaes, they were yum!
Then it was Friday the last day of camp today Mr Corrigan blew up a 1000 dollar ball it was huge! And we played soccer with it we played tug of war too. Then it was time to leave camp and get to school.
HEY LOOK WE ARE THERE!!! By Anesia
Mangatepopo School Camp 2006
Last week, it was the week that room 5 was going to Mangatepopo School Camp. We said our goodbyes to our friends, family, and buddies. Then we left at 9:00 on the dot. Our buddies were there waving goodbye to us. We started travelling and then Mr Corrigan started asking Anesia about where she lives in Whangehu. Which then connected to the floods a couple of years ago. By the time we finished talking about where Anesia lived and the floods and stuff we were at Waiouru Army Museum. The teacher at 'The Waioru Army Museum' came out and took us up to the classroom. He told us the do's and the don'ts and then showed us around the museum. Before we started the tour we got put into two groups. The form 1's went together and the form 2's went together. After we got shown around we got a chance to dress up in the proper army uniform. We even got to put Cam stick stuff on our face. Then we got a class picture taken. Then we hopped on the bus and travelled for another 15 minutes until we stopped to have lunch.
We stopped to have lunch were the Tangiwai disaster took place. We had lunch then we had a little play near the river. Now and then the river smelt bad. WE were throwing stones into the river and splashing people. Then we hit the highway once again.
About an hour later we arrived there sick and tired of travelling. First we had to have a picture taken next to the sign saying Mangatepopo School Camp. Then we got our stuff and put it in our room. First we had to find our cabins. Then we got to have free time.
Two hours later we had tea it was yum. For tea we all had Chicken Pieces and vegetables. Then we had Desert. After tea we had to do some work in our new journals we got that day. We had to write a recount about the day. After that we had supper and then hopped in bed and started reading.
The next morning we got up, had a shower and got ready for Breakfast. For Breakfast I had Cocoa pops with Yogurt on the top, with milk of course. After Breakfast we got ready to go to the Trout Centre.
When we got to The Trout Centre we got introduced to the lady who was taking us on the tour and then we walked to the first stop. The first stop was the Stripping pen. She talked to us about it and then we went walking on to the next one. At the next stop we got to see a whole lot of Trout swimming up the river. Then we walked to the next stop. The next stop was when they had just come out of there eggs. There were two rows of trays with them in. We had a look then we went to the next stop. The next stop was further up the river were there were tons of Trout. We got to feed them little pieces of Mr Corrigan's Bread roll. Then we went for a little walk to where more Trout were swimming. We had a look then we went to the classroom. We got given a couple of worksheets to do. Then we got to have morning tea. After morning tea we got to try a little bit of smoked Trout. It was delicious. Then we got to watch a guy fly-fishing. After we got to feed the trout. It was funny watching them jump out of the water. Then we had to go inside and do a couple of activities together. Then we left. We had to travel to Turangi. We didn't know what we were doing but we knew it would be fun.
The rock-climbing place was where we were going. When we got there we got told the safety rules so that no one would get hurt. After that we put our harness on and got ready to climb. It was fun climbing. There also was a blow up thing that we were allowed to jump on. One of the guys climbed up a freaky as tall wall. He told us to cheer him on while he climbed. I could never of climbed it. When it was time to leave we had to hop on another bus because our other bus had broken down. Our new bus was so stuffy and small. After we hopped on the bus we got ready to go swimming
. We went swimming at the Turangi Thermal pools. They were nice and warm. We played a few games like tag and stuff like that. We even tried to make a whirlpool. It got hot after a while so we hopped out.
After the pools we left to go back to camp. About 20 minutes later we had tea and then we had free time. After free time we had to write in our journals and then we did theme, had supper and went to bed.
The next morning we got up early, had a shower and talked. We had breakfast and had to get ready for our tramp. We left early. First we stopped at the Whakapapa Visitor Centre, and then had some morning tea. After morning tea the teachers decided to not go for the walk and Mrs Jonker went to the Chateau to see if we could have a little tour of it. The people said, "Yes" so we got to see the Chateau.
The Chateau was so flash and posh. It was groovie. The most expensive room was $700 per night. We got to go in the sauna for 5 seconds. They had 117 rooms, and a movie theatre in it to watch movies too.
After being at the Chateau, it was cold. We went for a drive to where a part of the 'Lord of the Rings' movies was filmed. The part was Mt Doom. Then we left and went back to camp.
When we got back to camp we had tea. After tea we watched the start of 'Lord of the Rings/ The fellowship of the Ring' and then went to bed.
The next day was Thursday, the next day we will be going home. We had breakfast early and left because today we were going to walk to the Taranaki falls. The Taranaki Falls were cool. Then we walked back around to the bus. After the Taranaki Falls we went to the Tawhia Falls. Only some of us walked to see them, the rest stayed in the bus.
After that we went back to camp and had lunch. Then we got told to write our dramas for the campfire that night. It was hard because our group was just mucking around.
The night came to do it and we quickly thought of one and just started practising when the 'ding dong' thing went of saying that it was about to start. Some of the dramas were funny. In the middle of it we got to make our own ice-cream sundaes. They were yum. Then we went back and finished the rest of the dramas and then we got to see the photos that were taken. Some were so funny. Then we went to bed.
We had to get woken up the next morning. We had to pack our stuff because we were going back to Wanganui today. We had breakfast, made our lunch, and then put our stuff out to be packed onto the bus.
After we packed our stuff we got ready for our surprise sport. First we played tug of war, then we played with a big blown up ball thing. It was funny. People were getting knocked over by it. After we had like a party type morning tea with chips and drink and biscuits. Then we got ready to leave.
We started off fine. Mrs Jonker text Mr Allot saying, "Everything's fine." Soon after the whole wheel came off the trailer, that had our luggage on. We were there for ages trying to figure out what we were going to do. We finally decided that we were going to leave Alex to look after our gear, and we started travelling again.
When we got to Raetihi, we stopped for a swim and lunch. The water was freezing cold, so I didn't go swimming. After that we started travelling again. About an hour later we arrived at school. All the parents were their waiting for us. It was funny!
I liked Mangatepopo camp. It was fun! When I got back I was tired.

Camp 2006
Well that was a cool camp we did lots of interesting things. Right now we're on the way back to Wangas after camp 2006 at mangatepopo well where should we start? Lets start from the beginning. On Monday morning I was looking forward to going to school for the first time since my first year at school. The reason I was looking forward to school was because we were going on a school camp. When I got to school they were loading up the bus so I put my luggage with the others and kept my smaller bag with me as it had my performance car mag, lunch and drink in it, then we were off to camp. Instead of going through the parapara s we went the long way. On the way we went to the waiuru army museum, which was quite sad because people died for their country like this one lady lost her 4 sons in 2 days. After that we went to the tangiwai disaster for lunch that was quite interesting. Then we were on our way to mangatepopo school camp
The next day we went to the national trout centre, that was really interesting. Then we went to the climbing walls we didn't actually know where we were going until we were there that was quite fun. After the climbing walls we went to the Tokanu hot pools that was really nice.
On Thursday we went for three walks the first we walked to taranaki falls, then to taiwhai falls and then around this loop track at camp. On the last walk we got a juice at was nice.
On Friday we had to pack up. After we packed up we tug of war and this game with a big ball that was fun then we went home, On the way we stopped at Raitihi for a swim the pools were cold but it was still fun. After the swim we went home.

"Mangatepopo Camp!"
It all started on the 6th of February, 2006...CAMP!!! Our classes, room 5 of Faith Academy School were all packed for 'Mangatepopo camp, in National Park. We all said our good-byes and set off. YIPPEE! On our way there we stopped in at the 'Waioru War Museum." Where we stopped in for morning tea. A man called Graham, split our class into two, he took one group and his assistant took the other. They gave us a tour of the museum and told us information of the world wars. After that we all went back to the classroom and got dressed up in army costumes and we put on the green coloured camouflaged pens. We had a class photo and we all looked so GROOVEY. Next we stopped in at the memorial of the Tangiwai disaster for lunch. Sarah, Esther and I made two new friends that were originally from England, but were in New Zealand for a holiday. Then we hid in the bushes acting just like we were army peoples! That was fun! Then after about 1 and a half hours of more traveling, we finally got to Mangatepopo camp! We found our cabins and unpacked.
After all of that, we were told what our duties were and had a fire drill. The girls of course practiced better than the boys! Anyway... after that we were given two worksheets to complete and had a look around the place. We then just mucked around and did our own thing, and then before we knew it, the dong went for dinner. For dinner we had chicken, potatoes and veggies. DELICIOUS! After that we all did our diaries and some sheets about trout, then went to bed.
The next day... we got up at 6:00am!!! We got dressed and ready for breakfast. For breakfast we had a large variety of food, like: porridge, tri-grain, corn-flakes, ricies and toast, and oh of-course and hot milo. I had porridge and a hot milo. After breakfast we packed our lunch and bags, then set of to the "Trout Centre." What we did there was have a tour of the place, with a young lady who was telling us information about a Rainbow Trout's Life Style and how they care for the trout. It was fascinating! Once we had completed that we went over to the new classroom that was just brought down from Mt Ruapehu, we filled out some more work sheets on trout, then went and had our morning tea. A man was smoking some rainbow trout for all of us to have a small sample of at lunch time. All of us children played around the children's fishing pond. The pond had millions of teenaged trout. The man smoking the trout taught us how to fish and he caught one of the trout in the pond, then he killed it by hitting it on the head with some hammer, or something that looked like a hammer. After morning tea we went back into the class room and did some activities in groups and again the activities were all about trout. After that we had lunch and Sarah v, Esther b and I were thinking of a song to sing for worship, then we were playing on stepping stones above a stream that goes into the pond. We also tried some of the smoked trout with a cracker. It was ok at first, but the after taste was disgusting! Next the young lady digested the baby trout that the man caught earlier. We saw all of it's insides like the heart and guts. It was funky looking! Then we went inside and packed and made a comment on our visit there. Then we went down to a small place which went under the ground and you could see the big trout in the river, that live on their own, with no help from the centre. Every trout that goes by get's a clipper a their fin, so that the next time the trout comes through, the trout centre will know if the trout has been there before or not.
After that we walked back to the bus and went to rock climbing. It was very fun, but Esther b couldn't go, because she had a broken foot. After the rock climbing, we went to relax at some hot pools. It was fun there. We meet a guy who could b-box, very well if I mightn't add! After that we set off back to camp! That night our cabin and cabin 2 in the boys had to lead the worship. We sung One Way by Hill song and taught them a new song. It was very fun!
The next day we got up early again for breakfast, but breakfast started half an hour later than yesterday, but we didn't know that, so just played cards until breaky. For breaky I had tri grain with yogurt. Then we packed our bags for another trip, but this time we were going on a hike up Mt Ruapehu. First we stopped in at the visitors centre and watched a Maori tail, about how the three mountains came together. After that we went and had morning tea at a small sheltered place. After that it started to rain, so we couldn't go for the hike, instead we went and had a tour of the old "Chatoe" It was absolutely wonderful. It had a sauner, movie theatre and really big and cool rooms. After that we went back to the small sheltered place and had lunch. During lunch I got a really sore pain in my stomach, like a bad stitch, but worse, so I stayed behind with Esther B and Mrs. Kirby, while the others went on a half an hour hike. About half way Sarah B got the same pain that had got, but she couldn't do any thing about it> Poor her. Then when they had come back, we traveled up Mt. Ruapehu in the bus, then walked a small way to where the 'Lord of the Rings' was set at 'Mt. Mordor." It was soooooooooooo cold, it felt like my fingers were going to fall off, and even worse, my stomach pain came back, so I rushed off back to the bus. We headed off back to camp, I went with Mrs. Kirby back to camp, because then I could get here faster. Mrs. Kirby and I thought that we had gotten lost, because it seemed like forever until we had gotten back to camp! When we got back I rang straight to bed, about 5-10 minutes later the others got back, by then by stomach pain had gone away. That we did the same as yesterday, tea, diary's, worship and bed.
The next day, our cabin got up at 5: ooam to play cards with the boys. It's was fun, but really, really cold! Then we got dressed and had breaky. For breakfast today I had cocoa pops, with yogurt and fruit. It was superb. Then we all packed our lunch and set off to another hike that went to the 'Taranaki Falls." It was about 2 hours until we finally got there, but it was definitely well worth the journey. Sarah B and I counted all the steps and there were 260. After that most of the class went for another hike, but a much smaller one, that one led to some other falls. They skipped stones there and had some morning tea. Then we finally set of back to camp. When we got back, Esther B told me about all the things she did with Andrea, it sounded like they had a lot of fun! Then the weather fined up and we went for another hike, but this time it was around the camp. It was very tiring, but not as bad as the first hike. That one took about 2 and half hours. That night we all did skits; our cabin combined with another cabin and performed a skit and dance. It was so fun, we wanted to go and do it again. During the skits we had our pudding. For pudding we had sundaes, which were made by ourselves. It was the most scrumptious thing I've ever tasted!!! Before all the skits, we watched all the photos that were taken on our time there, they were absolutely hilarious! Then we went to bed.
The next day we were up early again, we had to pack our bags and tidy our cabins, for we were leaving. We had breakfast, did our diaries and had surprise sport. For surprise sport we did tug of war and played soccer with a earth ball. It was so much fun. Our team won! Then we had morning and headed of. On our way back, we stopped in at some pools for lunch. The pools were so cold but big, it even had a diving board. After that we were on the road again. Esther and I sang songs all the way back to keep us entertained, but something disturbed us...the wheel of the trailer had fallen of, so had to ring someone to come and help us. Alex stayed behind with the trailer while we went home. We finally home but our luggage wasn't yet, so we had to come back about 1 hour later to get it.

Camp recount
Well we have just got back from camp it was really cool. Oh let's rewind so you actually know what we did, let's go back to when we had just left for Mangatepopo camp. That's better, as I was saying we had just left Faith Academy and everyone was talking. It started to get boring after a while so Sarah R and I played lots of games. When we were playing we were just coming into Waioru so we stopped, grabbed our bags and rushed out of the bus and into the Army Museum. When we were all inside we got to go up to the classroom. Then we had morning tea and got split up in to groups they were form 1's and 2's. I was in form 1's. We went round the museum. My favorite piece of information was that in the middle of the lands was a piece called "no mans land". Then we went to the Tangiwai disaster area. It was quite sad that lots of people died because the mountain exploded. Lunch was nice and then we left to Mangatepopo Camp. When we finally got there we unpacked and had afternoon tea. Then we had a fire drill it was really scary when it went off and I got a massive fright. After that we played some more, wrote in our dairies and had some tea. Then it was worship and everyone was singing these songs and Sarah R and I didn't know what they were singing so we just listened and when they had finished we had learnt a new song! Then it was supper and bed. But Sarah R and I talked and talked and talked!
CABIN INSPECTION! We rushed around like mad chickens tiding up, it was really funny! After that we got in the bus and left to the Trout Hatchery. On the way there Mr. C or Mr. Corrigan asked us all these questions about places and things. When we got there we went round the trout hatchery looking at all these things and then we went to the classroom and it was really cool we did this photo exercise and then it was time to have morning tea and while we were having morning tea a fisherman smoked some trout it tasted really nice.
After that we caught some trout and did an anatomy on the fish. Thea (the D.O.C person) cut it open and showed us everything that is inside it was kind of gross but anyway after that we went to the climbing wall it was cool and I climbed up one of the hardest walls.
Then we went to the hot pools in Tookanu it was really relaxing and I wish that I lived there! After that we traveled back to camp when we got there we played around and went and had tea and wrote in our dairies and had worship.
That night they did the same song that they did the other night so we could actually sing it. Then we had supper and went to bed. Oh by the way we also did our census forms that night too. The next morning we went and had breakfast and did devotions and cabin inspection made our lunch got in the bus and left to the information centre. When we got there we looked round and then it started to rain so we went up to a shelter and had morning tea and got in the bus. Just in time Mrs Jonker told us to get out and go up to the Chateau. It was so posh inside it was like a dream! Then we went back to the shelter and had lunch and then we went on a tramp because the rain had stopped. When we finished we went up the mountain. It was really gross weather and when we got back everyone changed our clothes into some dry ones.
It was tea time and then dairy time. After that we had worship and we watched some of Lord of the Rings we only watched little pieces of it because we weren't old enough to see it! That night Sarah Jane got annoyed with us because we were talking too much! The next morning we had some breakfast and wrote in our devotions. Then it was time to go on a tramp. When we were tramping to Taranaki falls it was sleeting so higher up in the mountain it was snowing! Then we walked back to the bus and started to travel back. We stopped on the way to go on another tramp but it was optional. I went on it because Mr. McGrail begged me to so I did.
When we got back I got changed and we started to make a skit, it did not go well so before we could do anything we had lunch. Then we went on another tramp and when we got back our group (Rachael, Storm, Anisea, Ashleigh, Sarah Jane, and Sarah R) begged me to get my Mum to help us. And a few minutes later we had a skit made! Then my cabin had to organize worship so we rushed off to do that after that it was time to have some tea yum! Then we did worship and then everyone did their skits it was cool. In the middle of the skits we got to make our own sundae which was so cool! Then it was time for bed we talked for ages and ages.
The next morning the teachers had to wake everyone up because we were so tired even the teachers weren't awake! We packed our bags had breakfast then played with an Earth ball! It was really fun! After that we had morning tea and got on the bus. Just as we were leaving the National park we discovered that the trailer that was on the back of the bus had lost a wheel!!! It was so annoying but anyway they sorted it out by leaving Alex with the trailer we could keep on driving. It felt like hours and hours later and we finally arrived at Faith Academy! And that is my story I hope you enjoyed it!

We then had tea and it was chicken, corn, carrots and it was delicious then I went on my way to worship when "My tummy fells sick" I said when "Bler" I puked. So that meant that I was sick. I went and had a shower and waited for the others to finish worship and when Jess got back from worship she had to move out of our room and move into another room for the night. Then it was bedtime.
"Wake up peoples" Rachael said with her very big voice at 5-7:00 in the morning. "Gee Rachael" I said annoyed Any way then I had a shower, saw Jess and went to go have breakfast which was water because my tummy was sore.

Off to a tramp and it went for 30 mins then we went to a chatto. Then we went to the mountain and then we went back to camp then we had tea then oh no Sam cracked his head open. Theres blood every where EW then we got that sorted and went to bed.
Wake up wake up rise and shine this time Mrs Surtees was in our cabin and after that we had a shower. We went to report to our duty job and have breakfast. We then went on a 2 hour tramp and then when we got to the end of the tramp there was a big beautiful water fall. When we got back to camp we got ready for our skits and then we went on another tramp. When we got back to camp we got ready for worship and had tea, did worship, did our skits and we got these sundaes.
It was very yummy. We then went to bed. The next morning we woke up to Andrea and the light being turned on by Mrs Jonker. We had a shower and got ready. We put our bags on the porch then we played a game with a big blow up ball, jumped in the bus and as we were driving along we herd brum brum ER boom! Oh no we have our wagon wheel pulled off so we have to have our luggage left here with Alex. After that problem we went to a freezing cold pool then we arrived at home. "Hi Mum hi Joella hi Emma "I said happy.

Camp Recount
Putt putt splutter splutter, the bus started up as we started to leave school for camp. On the way to camp, of course it was a lot of fun playing cards. On the way to camp we stopped for morning tea at the Waiouru Amy Museum. First we had to go to a classroom where we had morning tea and left our bags. We then went into the main museum to look at all the models. We had a tour guide who told us all about the models. He also told us that all the trucks, tanks, guns and cannons could all be made to work again. They had many dummies that looked so real. When we had finished looking at all the models we went back to the classroom and got dressed into army clothes and put on some camstick. We left with our stuff and went for an about ten minute drive to the Tangiwai Disaster and had lunch.
When we first got to camp I thought that it was going to be run down because the building in front of camp of run down. First we set up our cabins and then we did orientation where we had a sheet and had to fill it in.
That night we had a roast for dinner. Rhys somehow persuaded me to sleep on the ground instead of sleeping on the bunk.
The next day we went on a boring ol' bus trip to the trout centre. we went for a tour around the trout centre and learnt about stripping pens, life cycle, fishing and all about the insides of the fish. After that boring ol' junk we went to an under water viewing place which made the trout look huge.
Next, we went to a small town to go rock climbing. When we where at the rock climbing, our bus broke down. First I did the biggest climb and didn't want to let go at the end.
Our next stop was at some hotpools further down the road. The hot pools were nice. There was this guy who did this squeezy thing that shot the water up. And he was really good at beat boxing.
On Wednesday we went to Whakapapa visitor centre, which was very interesting and we watched a power point about mount Ruapehu.
Then we went to The Chato [a fancy hotel]. In the Chato we all went to the fanciest room and it cost about $70O.oo to stay the whole night. Then we went to what used to be a basement but was now a gym, theatre, pool and more. When we got back onto the bus, everyone was saying my house. It was approximately seven stories high.
Next stop was just about 2 minutes up the road. At the stop was a 30 minute walk. That walk was easy and fun.
Finally we got to our last stop before camp. This walk was even shorter and we were in the clouds. It was a 20 minute walk to a 'The Lord of the Rings' site.
The next day we went on three walks. First to Taranaki falls. This was a long but fun walk. On this walk both me and Rhys slipped about seven times each.
The next walk was just down the road and was another fall. The walk was short and sweet. At the bottom of the waterfall we had afternoon tea and skipped stones.
a while later back at camp we went for another walk. It was long, fun and interesting. When we got back from the walk we had to do an art activity. During this Mr. McGrail who was standing next to a field of grass shouted "Hey! There's a piece of grass over there!", which made me and my friends burst out laughing.
That night we had to do skits. In the middle we went and made our own ice cream sundaes with as many toppings as we wanted. After the skits, we watched a powerpoint presentation of photos on the BIG screen.
On Friday we played soccer with an earth ball (a really big ball) and you could use your hands. Some people got squished by it.
On the way home, we stopped at some pools in Raetihi. The water was very very very very very very very very very very cold. We stopped there for lunch.
We got back to school at 3:30 pm but some of our bags only came at 4:30n because the wheel came off the trailer.
So all in all, we had a really fun camp full of excitement and really cool and new experiences.

A week at Camp
I went to school and the bus was there and everyone was putting their stuff on the bus. We had to put the biscuits in a yellow box. Then we had to get onto the bus and then we went.It took us ages to get to the army museum. We got out of the bus and lined up at the door. We went inside there was a cool money thing and there were cool stones. A man came and said I will show you around the museum. Then we went into a cool classroom and they told us about the stuff and they took us around the museum. It was cool. We got dressed up into army clothes and we put camo stikes on.

On Tuesday we went to the trout hatchery and she told us about the Trout and we had to do a worksheet and we saw a pond with 5000 trout in it. They kept following me and Eddie it was fun. Then a man came and he cooked trout and it tasted nice. I tried some raw fish it was gross. Then we went to the bus and we went to the rock climbing.
When we got to the rock climbing place we had to wait for Mrs. Jonker and when she came back we could come in but we to put on these underpants things but they didn't go under your pants. Me, Rhys, Caleb and Matthew got to climb first. Then we went to the big ones and they were high as. Then I went to a hard as one and I completed it. Then we went to camp.
On Wednesday we were playing with a ball and my brother tripped me up and I hit my head on the door and I started crying and I felt my head and it started to bleed and the teacher came and Mrs. Morgan had to cut my hair to see the cut and Mr. Corrigan had a towel and it got covered in blood. Then we went to worship and we watched parts of the lord of the rings and it was cool. I like golem when he goes my precious. And he is cool.
On Thursday we walked all day. We walked to some falls and we walked to a place where you could skip stones. It was fun. Then we went to camp and we done a camp walk and Matthew hit me so I hit him and then he hit me in the face. Then we went to camp and made a sundae.
On Friday we played with a big ball and my head started bleeding and then the ball rolled over me and after that we played tug of war and we got our stuff and we went to a freezing pool and we then went and the trailer grinding on the ground and we stopped to see what the noise was and we left Alex with the trailer then we got to school and my stuff was there and then I went home.

Mangatepopo School Camp 2006
2004
Room 4 goes to CampOn Monday the 23rd of February 2004, Room 4 Room and the older kids in Room 6 all went to Te Wera camp near Stratford. We went for the week to have some fun and learn about the outdoors. My Dad, some parents and some of the teachers came along with us.
On the way to the camp we went to Dairy Land and there was a movie theatre. It felt like you were actually in the movie. The movie was about collecting and delivering milk.
We also went to Te Whiti museum. We got given a sheet of pare with some questions on it. Our job was to find the answers to all the questions. We had to look all over the museum for the answers.
Then a little later we got to Te Wera camp. First we unpacked the bus and put all our gear by a tree. Next a lady came and told us all the rules at Te Wera camp. Then we were shown our cabins and settled in. I was in Bellbird (name of the cabin) and there were three beds, a single bed and a bunk bed. Esther and Rangimarie were in the same cabin as me. I was on the bottom bunk and Esther was on the single bed.
He next day we had some activities to do. The one I liked the most was an activity where you boost someone up to put a tyre over the pole. After you've done that you have to get it back off!
The next day we went to the mudslide. There were big mud pools at the bottom of the slide. We squirted water down the slide so that it would be slippery So that we could slide down. I got very muddy and smelly on the mudslide. I also enjoyed fishing for eels with my Dad and Mr Davis. Guy and Brendan both caught an eels each. I tried some and they weren't very nice, to me they tasted like salt. Climbing the wall was fun with my Dad and Mrs Corrigan as the helpers. They both showed us what to do. Guy was last and instead of climbing the wall he walked up the wall! But of course we were pulling him up.
Then we went on a huge walk for 6 hours! On the way we got to try some plants and we ate some berries. But not all of them tasted good. We had a picnic lunch on a small hill. We were all tired and glad to get back to camp to rest.
We were given a map to find some hole punchers. You were supposed to punch the holes in the right places using the map. My Dad helped us, we found quite a lot of hole punchers but some of them were in the wrong place.
We had a fire; we cooked damper and marshmallows on sticks. Damper is a type of bread. The marshmallows were all gooey on the inside and crispy on the outsides. The damper tasted like fresh bread from the oven. One night e went on a night walk. There was some rope that you held and followed. There were slippery hills and trees in the way. It was pitch black when we did it.
On Friday we had the big inspection. We took out all our gear and cleaned
