INTRODUCTION
Faith Academy is a full primary school situatede in Springvale Wanganui, behind and adjacent to Faith Community Church (the school's proprietors). The school started in 1979. The roll has seen substantial growth since Intergration in 1995 with a tripling of student and staff members. There are now six classes.
The majority of students are successfully completing curriculum levels in advance of expectations. Results in 2003 of students in years four to eight showed 80%of students are reading above their chronological age in reading, 82% of students are at or above their expected level in mathematics

Strategies to be developed to enable us to achieve our goals
- For Faith Academy students to develop strong Christian Character.
To achieve this goal we will:
- Teach from a Christian Worldview
- Promote the understanding of Creation Science.
- Develop Christian Character Trait Guidelines
- Use the Bible as a basis for learning
- Provide opportunities for students to serve both the school and the wider community
- For our students to develop a firm foundation in Literacy and
Numeracy.
To achieve this goal we will:
- Specify Literacy and Numeracy as a focus, especially in the junior School
- Provide special programmes to improve reading comprehension
- Raise student achievement in listening and speaking
- Raise student achievement in written language
- For our students to love learning and develop the skills to learn
To achieve this goal we will:
- Review and refine our curriculum.
- Use essential skills as a basis for teaching and assessing students learning.
- Teach Information Technology in each classroom
- Create and foster a desire to learn.
- Implement a clear planning, teaching and assessing learning cycle.
- Further develop student goal setting.
- For our students to express themselves independently and creatively in a variety of medium and genres.
To achieve this goal we will:
- Provide opportunities for students to develop in a range of areas
- Encourage students to develop their gifts and talents.
- Endeavor to treat students as unique individuals created by God.
- Recognise student's cultural diversity.
- To support students learning and celebrate their achievements.
To achieve this goal we will
- Reward students for good work and behaviour
- Acknowledge achievements
- To promote a strong family community at Faith Academy.
Faith Academy has a Christian Culture that encompasses all people. We recognise the importance of New Zealand's cultural diversity.
To achieve this goal we will:
- Provide all students with experiences and understandings in cultural traditions, language and local history.
- Continue to develop policies and practices that reflect New Zealand's cultural diversity.
- Continue to work on improving relationships between students
- Create opportunities for student leadership
- Improve and expand our communication pathways
- Consult with our parent community
- Consult with the Maori community
- Promote partnership with parents, the church and other schools
- To resource Faith Academy for effective teaching and learning.
To achieve this goal we will:
- Link resource development to the annual charter
- Continue implementing the ten year property plan.
- Regularly review the curriculum and report to the board of trustees.
